JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Public Service Commission held a quick agenda meeting today, approving new tariffs for Empire Electric Company to change fuel adjustment rates. The fuel adjustment charge (FAC) for consumers is a charge to recover the cost of fuel to generate electricity by the servicing company.
Empire proposed adjusting the FAC to reflect fuel and purchased power costs for the six month period of March through August. Empire also filed a second case (EO-2015-0086) to reflect the annual FAC true-up for the period ending May 31, 2014. For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (1,000 kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, Empire states these two filings will result in the FAC decreasing by approximately $0.65 a month. The change will take effect in December 2014.
The commission will meet on Monday the 24th at 1:00 p.m. for the last agenda meeting of November. Hearings will take place around the state as regularly scheduled, including another hearing regarding the Grainbelt Express Clean Line today.
The meeting ended with a closed session before adjourning.
